Our Teachers Used to be Kids Too!

Miss Ashley

Hi my name is Miss Ashley and I am a teacher in the toddler room. I have worked with kids for around 7 years and enjoy spending time with them and playing around. I received my B.S. in Geosciences from the University of Texas at Dallas, and I am currently working on getting my M.S. in Geosciences with a focus in petroleum and gas. I enjoy being outdoors and frequently go hiking and walking. My hobbies include reading, crocheting, scrapbooking, watching old movies, and taking care of my two cats, Dinah and Bagheera. I love working at Flamingo Island Preschool and look forward to working with each and every child.

Miss Tamiko

Hi, my name is Miss Tamiko. I am a morning teacher in the Toddler Classroom. I have 7 years of experience working with young children and volunteering at a Special Needs Summer Camp for children. I hold a Child Development Associates Degree from Okinawa Women’s Junior College. I am married with two beautiful children. We also have one dog and a cat. In my free-time I enjoy sewing children’s clothes and gardening. I am very pleased to be an educator at Flamingo Preschool and I look forward to teaching your children.

Mr. Vini

Howdy! My name is Mr. Vini. I like books, long walks on the beach, and clichés. I graduated from Texas A&M University where I started a rock band with the intent of melting as many faces as possible. Little did I know that toddlers like to rock just as hard, so don't be too surprised when your child asks to “get the Led out”.

Miss Amber

Hi, I'm Miss Amber, I'm full of energy, outrageously creative and I enjoy teaching young children. I'm originally from Indiana but have been in Texas for more than half my life, still a Hoosier at heart. Having no children of my own, I do have 4 gorgeous nieces that I spend a great deal of time with. Joining Flamingo Island has been a great experience. Our team here is awesome, working together and being extremely flexible as we help each other out. I look forward to enriching many young lives as a teacher.

Miss Jennifer

Hi, I'm Miss Jennifer. I am a full time teacher in the Butterfly Room. I just moved to Texas from Cleveland, Ohio. I have been teaching young children for nine years, and I have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. I am married with three daughters and a dog. I love spending time with my family, shopping, reading and look forward to exploring Texas. I am very excited to be a teacher at Flamingo Island Preschool and look forward to seeing your young children grow.

Miss Petia

Hi, my name is Miss Petia and I am a Teacher in the Busy Bees Room. I am married and have two children. I have a Master's Degree in Industrial Management from Sofia Technical University and a Career Diploma in Day Care Management from Penn Foster Career School. In my spare time, I like watching movies, knitting, needlepoint, and most of all spending time with my family. I love being around small children, and I am so excited to work at Flamingo Island Preschool.

Miss Julia

My name is Julia. I am a Junior at Texas A&M Commerce working to become an Elementary Educator. I also hope to be able to teach internationally in the future as well. I love listening to music, visiting museums, and lifting weights. Spending time with my siblings, family, and friends is always my first priority.

Miss Ergem

Hello! I'm Miss Ergem and teacher in the Bee's classroom. I have graduated from college with a physics degree. Being able to see babies develop and grow brings me joy and happiness. It is a pleasure to be able to be a part of this classroom.

Miss Maryam

Hi, my name is Ms. Maryam and I am the opening and closing teacher for the busy bees. I am a student at the University at Dallas, and working on my last year doing my bachelors in Speech Pathology as well as in Child Learning and Development. I plan on doing my masters in Communication Disorders. I have worked with kids for the last two years and fallen in love with being around them on a daily basis. I hold most important the value of family (and friends), as well as the act of giving, especially to those who aren’t as privileged as we are.

Miss Gaby

Hello! My name is Gaby. I'm a junior at the University of Dallas working on a double major of child development and psychology. I'm a huge fan of cats, art, working out, and spending time with my loved ones. I plan on showering every child with unconditional love while providing a great learning experience!
